The program, Pension Half Hour a program on Channel 50 Enugu Television, was hosted by Hon. Chris Onwube. Hosted on the program on the 28th October, 2019 were, Mrs. Agatha Nnaji ED Dewdrop Foundation and Rev. Engr. Sylvanus Ugwu a retiree from the State Ministry of Education.
On the show they looked at the age of people regarded as elderly in the society. Mrs. Agatha Nnaji stated that these are people from age 60 and above. She went on to talk about the health challenges associated with old age and how best to show them care being that at this stage of their lives most of them become vulnerable and no longer in control of their body systems.
Mrs. Agatha reiterated on the need to create more awareness to the general public on the importance of caring and protecting the elderly people in the society. She mentioned the need to teach the younger generation how best to care for them. Also, she mentioned the need for the Government to adopt a policy on elderly care and protection and ensure it is implemented.
The ED, Dewdrop Foundation spoke on the project of curtailing elderly abuse in our communities embarked on by the foundation in partnership with CGE Africa and Voice. She further talked about the Walkathon in details.
