The Voices for Inclusion learning event was held from 27-29 January 2020 in The Hague, The Netherlands as the final learning event of the Voices for Inclusion project. Participants from 14 participating organisations from 5 countries (Nigeria, Rwanda, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines) as well as representatives from Voice, Liliane Foundation and the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development (DCDD) were present. Dewdrop Foundation was represented by Mrs. Agatha Nnaji the Executive Director of the Foundation. Other participating organizations were Perkumpulan Relawan, CIS Timor, SIGAB Indonesia, Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), Women’s Health and Equal Rights Initiative, A2D Project-Research Group for Alternatives to Development, Inc., Virtualahan Inc., The Lovelife Project for Health and Environment Inc., Benimpuhwe Organisation, Self-Advocacy Initiatives for People with Disabilities (SAID), NSINDAGIZA, Empowerment for Disability and Social Integration, Foundation for Advocacy and Literacy Development, MirrorAfrica, AD Unguem Consultancies Ltd., Dare This, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and African Studies Centre, Netherlands.
The objectives were to reflect on the learnings from the national exchanges and events which took place in 2019, learn from each other, enrich their understanding of intersectionality and lobbying and advocacy in theory and practice, and select and award the Best Practices per country. The following results were achieved; improved understanding of intersectionality, improved skills such as pitching and usage of tools for advocacy, improved understanding of Advocacy for Inclusion, very good learning and networking and selection of 3 best practices.
